The trend in compact cameras are over since the past few years, then it's been getting more and more compact until now. Soap flakes

Speaking about the environment issues, today, Designer Nathalie Stämpfli had came up with another better solution to reduce on unnecessary cost and at the same time it also lend a hand to help our fragile environment and create awareness as well as immediate attention on the environment issues. Thus, He came up with the design “Soap Flakes”.

Everyone would loves the economical and ecological benefits of using bar soap in the bathroom however the pool of water that accumulates in the dish can seem to be the opposite of cleaning. In this case, soap flakes is a soap dispensers that turn a soap bar into beautiful soap flakes for each washing experience. Moreover, the creation got its environment contribution by reducing its environmental footprints of only making and transporting around what is only required.

Frankly speaking, I've always hated picking up a damp sticky wet soap bar but with soap flakes, it keep the soap dry and grate it and hence I don't have to worry about a bar of soap slipping out of my hand or becoming too small to use effectively.

Nathalie Stamplfli has designed 2 different version of “Soap Flakes” dispenser as they offer comfortable feeling when the soap flakes are falling on hands and dissolve easily in water. Ther first version needs to attached to the wall. In order to captures the flakes, gentle push the grater and the flakes would falls on your hand. The open shape of the designed allows the soap block evolve its fragrance into your room. The second version is focus more on flexibility as the grater can stand by itself. It could be easily placed in the same way as a shower gel or shampoo in your bathroom.

Arch Touch Mouse

Ever since the first launched of magic mouse from apple, it has been amazed me the most with it's fabulous outlook and features. Now, Microsoft has finally release the arc touch mouse after the rumors and leaks.

I can't believe I'm writing about Microsoft as being an apple user myself. But seriously their new Arc touch mouse is some cool new hi-technology stuff! It is the first mouse designed to flatten for portability and pop out for comfort. It's new features allows for easy navigation with the touch scroll strip. It is very common that people will love to packing up their laptops bags without added a big fat mouse along, as the arc touch flattens with just the touch of finger thus providing comfort and easy fits into bags, pockets and take up less space on desktops. Hence, it is greatly distinguish from the apple's magic mouse as it can't be flattened.

The arc touch mouse is equipped with BlueTrack Technology, allowing the user to track on virtually any surface, and a tiny magnetic snap-in Nano transceiver stores on the bottom of the mouse. Two AAA batteries provides more than six months battery life and the built-in battery indicators shows different color when power is running low.

The arc touch mouse is controlled with it's touch strip, user can take control by scrolling with a flick of a finger. Since it's using a capacitive sensing technique and sensor pads, the strip is sensitive to each position and velocity will change rapidly to give users accurate and controlled scrolling according to the movement.

For controlled scrolling, a finger moves slowly on the strip. For hyper fast scrolling, flick a finger and to stop with just a simple tap. Three buttons are added on the strip to functions as page up, page down and the middle click area, which is reprogrammable for whatever mouse function the user needs most.

Switching from a traditional scroll wheel to a touch strip includes haptic feedback to simulate the bumps of a traditional scroll wheel.

I might cheated apple, if the white version of ach touch mouse comes out.

Kettle Bulb

I've never seen such unique kettles before. Have you?

This kettle uses a light bulb to heat up water and this what making it ultra unique. The brilliant creation is form Estelle Sauvage from Superior National School of Art and Design in Saint-Etienne.

It works with the heat of an incandescent light bulb 100W, the water in the kettle is protected from the bulb so you don't have to worry about the accidentally electrocuting yourself while boiling your hot tea. Without a doubt, it is a perfect kettle that recycles the heat from the interior lighting. It is considered successful in terms of the aesthetic, with its minimalist look. The light bulb is mounted on a simple wooden base, at the same time the kettle contains a niche that perfectly matches the shape of the bulb.

The sale is forbidden since September,2009 in France. It is sadly to see the ending of product and the existence of it within homes. However it really works, it doesn't reach the boiling point of the water but to an ideal temperature for tea, approximately 85 / 90°C.

Although the revolutionary object finished its life sadly, it was still presented in July of 2010 at the Centre Pompidou in Metz, in the exhibition "Now Imagine" to show everyone about the ingenious creation from Estelle Sauvage.

Jelly glassy

Isn't it such a simple and smart idea? Since the whole world is concern about the environment protection, a quartet of sparkling young minds called the way we see the world came out with and idea to protect the environment by creating an biodegradable and edible drinking glass.

The glass is made of agar agar which is a hydrocolloid derived from a sea algae that is used in food preparation and they called it as Jelloware. It is cast in different flavors such as lemon-basil, ginger-mint, or rosemary-beet, each designed are correspond with specific beverages, thus making it edible cups. They're definitely an environmentally friendly option to their less-tasty counterpart, the plastic cup.

However, if you don't dare to gobble up the whole glass, you can just throw it on the grass. The uneaten portions of the glasses are meant to be tossed on the grass and allows the growing of grasses when your lawn party is over, since it is made from agar which is seaweed extracts and made up of subunits of the sugar galactose, it promotes the growth of plants.

So, What's more than eco-green than this? A drinking glass that you need not to be thrown away, or recycle, but eat it and let it(grass) grow.

PickerPen

Previously I've talk about the amazing electronic ruler and today I'm gonna introduce another creative designed stationary.

When we were young, crayons and color pencils served as our introduction to the art. We used to compare with each other whether who has the largest box of colors. When the seatmate has a box of 16, you'll try get a box of 24 but by the time you got it, your rival's already upgraded to a box of 48. It just never enough of getting more and more colors, even though we don't use some weird colors like snot green, which looked like your snot seriously.

Designer Jinsun Park from Korea has come out with a simple tool called color picker pen, which allows us to select colors from real life and provides the more lively feel in the nature. The ideas of the color picker pens works like an eyedropper tool in Photoshop. It contains a built-in scanner that captures the real color and detected by the RGB color sensor inside the pen, then it will undergo the internal chip processes the information and the RGB cartridge mixed the inks to create the desired color.

The concept of color picker by Jinsun might be able to put a fullstop at the senseless crayon hoarding as it helps to provide multiple natural colors for drawing without using few boxes of crayon colors.

RGB color sensor at the tip and a color scan button beneath it. The lower part consists of RGB cartridge as a refill of Pen and there is a display that shows the current pick color as well.

Rule your world.

So, who doesn't has their own sweet memories of the wooden ruler during their time spent in their school ? As far as invention goes, a ruler is just a simple thing for measuring purpose. but now Shay Shafranek from Israel is modifying an old school wooden ruler to an electronic ruler with the advantages of a digital interface.

Line of resistors

The ruler doesn't come with markings for measurement but will instead contains an LED readout which glows through the top later of a multiply construction, rendering it invisible when the power off. It works by pressing the button, the digits illuminate and the ruler is set to ready. Passing a pencil along the edge of the ruler will display the digits according the the length of the line as the measuring is done by the resistors which detect the pencil's lead. Reset the value for new measurement by pressing the same button again.

When you wanted to measure something longer and you just run out of ruler, what should you do? With electronic ruler there's nothing to be worried. You can simply move the ruler ahead and the measurements will be added on so that you don't have to do any careful lining or hard sums in your head. At the same time, you can also recalibrate to any unit of your choice by holding the power switch and touching two points which then it will shows the distance for the new unit.

The electronic ruler is an ingenious invention from Shefranek as it makes our life easier.

Oh well, how we wish that this concept would actually be seen in Malaysia?

Mirror mirror on the wall

In fairy tales, we had a magical mirror that answers any question, to whom we often asks: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, Who in the land is fairest of all?"

But in the 21st century, here is a cool and incredibly hi-tech Maitre mirror from Stocco of Italy.
The Maitre mirror is polished and flush-mounted on an attractive aluminum frame, complementing any contemporary style and bringing an understated elegance to your spa-inspired space. It is available in sizes from 90 centimetres up to 2metres.

The best feature of this wonderful mirror is the touch screen controls on its surface. The touch screen console in the lower-right corner, which offers MP3 player, programming and operation of a radio, and it could display as a clock as well. It can control and playback your music player with the touch screen featured.

Though this hi-tech mirror looks more like a concept than something that is actually being sold, anyway it is a real product on the market. If you loves to sing in the shower, you might find the Stocco Maitre Touch Screen Mirror to be the perfect bathroom accessory for you to sing your heart out in your bathroom. Plus, you can also fight the morning lethargy with some good music in the bathroom itself.

Do I need this kind of mirror when I could just bring a radio into my bathroom and it works the same without costing so much just for the Mp3 mirror? You asked.

Well, a simple radio is not as fun as if you could have such special mirror that plays songs and you can watch yourself and practice for your American Idol audition. Besides, it would definitely impress your guest that use the bathroom in your house.

Light up

It is doubtless that having lights on your bicycle will dramatically increases your visibility to motorists. However, most of the bicycle's light is not luminous as it's only reflects light at night. Hence, cycling in a big cities can be really dangerous especially at night and without any right equipment.

In this case, designers Fraser J. Mort has created a perfect solution to bike light issues with his truly shining LED Bike Light. It is an LED dot matrix display which hanging below the seat and it can be used to display the left, turn right, stop, and other signals. The most interesting part is that these icon signals are not uniformly fixed left or right arrow, the user can design their own graphics, animations or phrases to use as their rear light. At the same time, allowing people behind them to know what they're thinking.

This LED bike light is made of a solid piece of aluminum, which consist of 8x8 LED dot matrix. As for the bike dock is made from ABS plastic and connects to the bicycles dynamo via USB socket at the back of the light. The light is designed to be used either on a bike or plugged into a home computer. It can be programmed with still graphics, animations, words or phrases via web-based software.

Hence, this creation of Fraser J.Mort is perfect for bikers who ride in the dark, and it provides a clearly visible from anywhere behind them at the same time to make cyclist to feel more secure and confidence.

Iphone Mania

Hi earthling, this is my very first post that I'm gonna talk about the latest smashed hits in Malaysia. The new installment by Apple- the Iphone 4 is spreading like wildfire and there were more than hundreds of Malaysian patiently waited on long queues just to get an Iphone 4 which was exclusively distributed by Maxis and Digi ( two main mobile phone companies in Msia) and it's even out of stock until now.

So, why iphone is a smashed hit, does it really worth to wait in lines just to have one of their own ? you asked.

Perhaps I would like to comment about the wait and effort of buying it was all worth it.

First of all, the Iphone is more than just a phone. Why? Because it's touch screen. NO! It's become very common and most of the phone in 21st century are touch screen, Aren't they? Of cause I have the reasons of telling why the Iphone's touch-screen is different from many of other devices. When you touch the screen on other devices you typically need a slender or a pointed stylus. In this point, the Iphone made a difference where it requires to use your fingers. But not ur nails, even how hard you're trying tap with your nails and yet you'll remain in the original page.

One thing, I find it really special of an Iphone is it's always under control. What I'm trying to say is when you're connected to the wifi and surfing the net, do you find that your browser on your phone is always outta of control when you are trying to scroll it up and down. It always jump to the other page when you're accidentally tap on a link infact you're just wanted to scroll the page downwards. Have you experience it? And now I don't think it's a problem for my Iphone, everything is just under my control.

Next, it supports over million of application which you can simply search on Appstore. However, most of them are meant to be sold instead of FOC. No worry, there's always a choice with the Iphone, you can jailbreak your Iphone and yes you can get all the application for FREE!

Applications for example Games, there are many genre of games you can choose to download it and to have fun all day long. Besides games, social networking like facebook and twitter are one of my favorite. I bet who can live without facebook and twitter nowadays? And What's always catch your attention? Isn't it free stuff? Besides you can get free apps after you've jail broken, you can also text for free as well as call for free. There's multiple apps allow us to text for free among iPhones.

Next, Iphone 4 vs Iphone 3gs? Is it worth to upgrade?

According to Apple, the iPhone 4 is the biggest leap forward since the original Iphone. In comparison between Iphone 4 and Iphone 3gs, the iphone 4 is thinner than its predecessors. The device is 9.3 millimeters thick, about 24 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS. A 3.5-inch display shows images at a 960-pixel-by-640-pixel resolution, and about four times as many pixels in the same amount of space than earlier iPhones as it supports retina display which provide clearer images and icons are popping out like after a 3D effect. It also lasts longer on a charge due to the internally developed A4 chip, offering 7 hours of talk time and 6 hours of web browsing time over 3G networks as well as 10 hours of browsing over Wi-Fi networks, 10 hours of video playback and 40 hours of music listening.

The device includes more than 100 new features and offers two-way FaceTime video chat which will only work over wi-fi connection for now. You also get HD video recording and an all-new three-axis gyroscope that should make gameplay even more immerse. The device are run in Apple IOS4 which was previously released as Iphone OS 4.0 beta. The new OS will bring multitasking capabilities in order to run more applications at the same time.

Check out the spec and feature comparison between the iPhone 4 and 3GS at http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare-iphones/.

Love it or hate it? Without a doubt, the performance of the Iphone is really nothing much left to be desired. Well, do let me know if it’s enough to tear you away from your current phone?
